I need some cash in my wallet! Waiting for the right job to pop is a difficult thing to do. I had no prospects for today, but luckily, I woke up at 6:30 to check on the website if any jobs were available. Boy, were jobs available, 12 to be exact. However, I was eyeing one job in particular. Social Studies at “Light High School”, best part was it starts at 10 am. I afford to go to sleep for a few more hours before I head out.
I woke up at 9, showered, and wanted to make a good impression and get there early. Once I got there, the teacher was still there and ask me to chill for another 30 minutes and he’ll leave. Found out he has a senior economics class. Quiet, good kids doing their work. Couldn’t ask for a better gig!
Interesting note: At “Light H.S.”, students can leave campus to buy food and such and I took the opportunity to get some grub myself. As I walked back and about to enter the premises, an administrator stopped me and asked, “Can I help you?”, I responded, “I’m a substitute teacher.” Her response was, “You look like one of the kids and you should have your ID with you.” Feeling good that she thought I was THAT young, I was feeling pretty happy. People tell me I look old for my age, but this lady thought otherwise. Nice gesture and ‘compliments’ on her part.
Helped out a fellow teacher. Money in my pocket. A successful day! Til next time!
